Man arrested for making inappropriate comments at female TV presenters

Security officials arrested an Egyptian expatriate Saturday in Taif for making inappropriate comments toward women presenters on live television.

The management of the channel lodged an official report with the police based on the telephone number used by the offender to make the call.

According to Col. Fawaz bin Jamil Al-Maiman, media spokesman for Riyadh police, the police received a report from the channel’s CEO indicating an unidentified individual called into the station on live television and made inappropriate comments toward female presenters.

The department of criminal investigations in the region analyzed the report and took necessary measures to confirm the identity of the individual involved. His location was identified in coordination with the Makkah and Taif police.

The 46-year-old Egyptian national confessed to the offense, and was arrested. His mobile phone was also seized.

Bureau of Investigations and Public Prosecution in Riyadh was then notified to complete necessary procedures and apply required provisions of the “Regulations on Committing IT crimes” against the defendant.
