Polisario Front withdraws from buffer zone in Western Sahara

The Polisario Front independence movement has pulled back fighters from a buffer zone in Western Sahara, in a move seen as a boost to efforts to re-start talks on ending the conflict, the United Nations said Friday.

“This action should improve the prospects of creating an environment … to relaunch the negotiating process with a new dynamic and a new spirit,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
