Students clash with security forces in Kashmir

:: Students of a local school clashed with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday as tear smoke shells were used to disperse them, police said.

Police said students of a local higher secondary school bunked classes and took to the streets hurling rocks at the security forces. Youths from the area later joined the protesting students to engage the security personnel in more intense clashes, a police officer said here.

Tear smoke shells were used by the security forces to bring the situation under control.

Police said no serious injury was sustained by any of the protesting students.

The cycle of student protests started in the Valley on April 15 when the security forces entered a college in Pulwama town and roughed up some students during protests.
