Sandstorm envelops Jeddah

:: A fast moving sandstorm hit Jeddah on Saudi Arabia’s west coast on Saturday evening, reducing visibility and hampering driving on the city’s roads.

The sandstorm, which was driven by heavy winds, moved rapidly from east to west across the Red Sea city engulfing it in fine dust.

Sandstorms are common during this time of year and are usually followed by hotter weather.

There have been no announcements of closures of schools or other educational institutions.
