Jordanian army kills five who tried to infiltrate from al-Tanf crossing

The Jordanian army announced that five people trying to cross al-Tanf crossing, between Syria and Iraq, were killed.

An official military source in the Jordanian Armed Forces General Command said that the border guards dealt in the past 72 hours with nine cars that tried to get close to the Jordanian borders through al-Tanf crossing towards Jordanian territory, according to Ammon agency.

According to the source, the rules of engagement and shooting were applied in dealing with them and the vehicles retreated towards Syrian territory. Shortly after the incident, one of the vehicles returned with two motorcycles, and the rules of engagement were applied.

The operation resulted in the killing of five people and the destruction of the car and the two motorcycles and the disruption of another car that came to help the injured and killed.

On the other hand, the border guards caught an infiltration attempt by two individuals who attempted to cross the border from Syrian territory towards the Jordanian territory. They were arrested and transferred to the concerned authorities.
