Diplomats call for urgent UN talks requested after Jerusalem clashes

Palestinians clash with Israeli security forces outside Jerusalem’s Old city on July 21, 2017.
:: Sweden, France and Egypt on Saturday requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council following Israeli-Palestinian unrest in Jerusalem, diplomats said.
The meeting would be to “urgently discuss how calls for de-escalation in Jerusalem can be supported,” said Sweden’s political affairs coordinator Carl Skau.
Friday’s violence – a stabbing attack that killed three Israelis and clashes which left three Palestinians dead – was among the most severe in recent years.
