:: Michelle Pfeiffer is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios announced Saturday at Comic-Con that Pfeiffer has been cast in the “Ant-Man” sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” as Janet van Dyne, who is Hank Pym’s missing wife.

The American actress, singer and producer also recently scored her first Emmy nomination for her work as Ruth Madoff in HBO’s “Wizard of Lies.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a character called the Ghost will be in the film. The Ghost is a relatively obscure Marvel villain who fits into the setup of the Ant-Man movies — originally an Iron Man villain, the mysterious character (who is never seen unmasked) started as an industrial saboteur by Trade, who quickly fell into a world of paranoid delusion where he trusted no one and worked for whichever side served his own best interests at the time.

Pfeiffer will be starring alongside returning “Ant-Man” actors Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas in the film.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige also announced that Randall Park and Laurence Fishburne were joining the sequel. She is a three-time Academy Award nominee, having earned nods for “Dangerous Liaisons,” “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” and “Love Field.” Her other credits include “The Age of Innocence,” “The Witches of Eastwick,” and “What Lies Beneath,” to name a few.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is an American superhero film based on Marvel Comics characters. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to 2015’s “Ant-Man,” and the 20th film installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
