Morocco hosts spectacular allegiance ceremony for king

The Moroccan king stood in an open car, saluting the delegations, an important royal tradition in Morocco.

:: As is customary every year, King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as the Commander of the Faithful in Morocco, presided over his pledge of allegiance to the royal palace in Tetouan, northern Morocco, on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

The interior minister and other government representatives pledged allegiance to the king at a ceremony that lasted only ten minutes, unlike in previous years when the duration was longer.

The Moroccan king stood in an open car, saluting the delegations, an important royal tradition in Morocco.

During the ceremony, the audience wears white, and stands in a square waiting for the king.

When he goes out to meet them, they bow towards him five times, chanting slogans such as “God bless the age of my lord.”
