Egyptian plane lands safely in Medina after smoke alert
:: An Egyptian plane landed safely, shortly after taking off from Medina Airport in Saudi Arabia because of smoke reported in the pilot cabin.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation said in a press statement that the air control unit at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina received a report at 12: 18 noon on Friday from the pilot of Egypt Air flight No. 640 departing to Cairo.
The message stated that there was smoke inside the cabin, forcing the commander to request a return to Medina airport.
The plane carrying 50 passengers and 10 crew members landed safely, with no injuries reported.
Apart from initial moments fear and confusion among the passengers, the competent authorities at the airport dealt efficiently with the emergency situation.
