Indian intelligence says Qatar-backed groups linked to terrorism

Mathrubhumi reported that attackers in Hyderabad and Bangalore had received funds from an association in Kerala linked to Qatar.

:: The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced that a large sum of money granted by Qatar to Malabar region in the southern state of Kerala, under the label of charity, has been distributed to agencies with links to terrorist groups.

The regional Malayalam language Mathrubhumi newspaper website reported that the perpetrators of the attacks in Hyderabad and Bangalore had received financial assistance from an association in Kerala.

Most of the non-governmental organizations that received the funds exist only on paper, and most of the staff of these organizations are being monitored for suspected involvement in recruitment of elements for ISIS group in Kashmir.

The newspaper website pointed out that the main association has been active in the field of social services forn the past five years, and it was mainly used by the office owners to cover up for receiving these funds from Qatar.
