UAE Minister: Qatar must end politicization of Hajj after King Salman initiative

Gargash considered that the Cairo meeting is the beginning of a difficult and necessary road.

:: The UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar al-Gargash, said on Thursday that Qatar’s politicization of Hajj must come to an end following the initiative taken by Saudi King Salman.

In a tweet the minister noted that Saudi Arabia continues to be large-hearted amid the ongoing rift. He also highlighted King Salman’s generous initiative to supply planes that will bring Qatari pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj season.

“There are matters that rise above politics,” he concluded, highlighting the importance of the Hajj season. Last week, in a series of tweets, Gargash laid down the fundamental conditions for bringing an end to the Qatari crisis.

The minister had stressed that Qatar should deal with the Arab quartet’s concerns, not only be acknowledging concerns from Washington but also from other western capitals.
