Saudi Mufti to Qatar: Obstructing Hajj pilgrims dangerous, unacceptable
:: Saudi Arabia’s Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Alsheikh has condemned Qatari authorities for not allowing its pilgrims to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj through air route. According to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Alsheikh referred to the prohibition as “wrong and dangerous.”
“Preventing pilgrims from travelling to perform their religious duties without a lawful reason that suggests otherwise is wrong, dangerous and unacceptable,” he added. The Mufti’s statements come hours after Saudi Arabian Airlines’ announcement for not being able to follow-up on its mission to transport Qatari pilgrims from Hamad International Airport in Doha.
This happened due to the Qatari authority’s refusal to grant the Saudi carrier permission to land, despite having sent a request for permission a few days earlier.
Since the start of the blockade, the boycotting countries have banned their national carriers from operating in Qatar. They also banned the Qatari national carrier from flying over their airspace.
