Sheikh Mohammed’s call for Arabic speaking volunteers met with overwhelming response

:: A project that required Arabic speakers and writers to help in the creation of free science and math educational content has received more than 12,000 volunteers.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, revealed the rush of volunteers in a tweet, just a few days after the project was launched on Monday.

The Dubai Ruler tweeted on Thursday: “In the new educational project of the Arab nation and we asked volunteers to translate 5000 video tutorial includes 11 million words. The volunteers arrived within two days, 12, 000 volunteers.”

The initial call asked for people to volunteer in the translation and reproduction of 5,000 videos into Arabic.

The program is aimed at benefiting 50 million students in Arab countries in a year.

“The program is a challenge, because we are challenging ourselves if we can translate and reproduce 5,000 videos in one year,” project manager at the Initiatives project, Abdullah Al-Nuaimi told UAE daily The National.
