Officials meet in Cairo to implement Arab Summit decisions
:: The second meeting of top officials to implement Arab Summit decisions on terrorism and social development kicked off on Tuesday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
A delegation headed by Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Wahid bin Nooh, the undersecretary of the Justice Ministry for judiciary affairs, represented the Kingdom at the meeting.
The Arab League’s assistant secretary-general for social affairs, Ambassador Badr El Din Alali, in a speech he delivered, indicated that the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, under directions from the Arab Summit in Nouakchott, launched the Ministerial Conference on Terrorism and Social Development titled “Causes and Treatments.”
Alali stressed the need to improve the social conditions and renew religious speech that rejects any idea or action leading to extremism and terrorism.
He also stressed the need to abide by UN resolutions, and the importance of coordination and cooperation among the relevant parties to achieve the success of an ambitious plan, which will be proposed to the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, in its next session on Nov. 14 in Kuwait.
Egyptian Social Solidarity Minister Dr. Ghada Wali stressed Egypt’s cooperation with the Arab League to support efforts aiming to root out terrorism and reduce its social and humanitarian effects as much as possible.
“Terrorist attacks in the Arab region causing social and psychological negative impacts, make us more determined to exert even more efforts to root out terrorism,” she added.
Wali called on the Arab League to present a proposition regarding implementation of Arab Summit decisions on terrorism at the social level for reducing unemployment, and launching an initiative to finance small and medium projects in the Arab region.
