UAE minister warns against ‘Iranian or Turkish solution’ to Syrian conflict

Anwar Gargash arrives for a press conference in Dubai on June 24, 2017.

:: The UAE’S Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Monday through his Twitter account that a solution to the Syrian conflict “cannot be Iranian or Turkish,” urging a stronger Arab role to the crisis.

Gargash also said that a political solution in Syria is the only means to this intense blood bath. “However, with all realness, it cannot be an Iranian and Turkish solution.”

The foreign minister continued to say that it is unfortunate that the international developments of the Syrian crisis “marginalize the Arab role.”

“With the exception of Riyadh’s efforts to unify the opposition, we see that the Russian-Iranian-Turkish consensus takes the lead while the Arab role is secondary,” he added.
