Leading Iranian Sunni cleric voices support of protests

Molavi Abdolhamid advised the authorities to fulfill people’s demands.


:: Molavi Abdolhamid, an Iranian Sunni cleric in the Baluchestan Province, voiced his full support for the protests that began 10 days ago and emphasized the importance of changing policies and laws in Iran.

“It is necessary to change laws that cannot solve people’s problems and that obstruct solutions,” the prominent Sunni cleric said on Friday, according to Radio Zamaneh.

Abdolhamid also advised the authorities to fulfill people’s demands and called on the protesters not to resort to violence and to peacefully demand their rights.

He added that the Sunnis demand end to discrimination which they have suffered from for 40 years now.
