Egypt’s Sisi meets with Sudan’s Bashir amid Nile dam tensions

:: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met on Saturday with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on the sidelines of the African Summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi said Sisi emphasized strong ties between Egypt and Sudan and confirmed that they will resume efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination particularly amid the challenges posed by the current regional situation.

He added that Bashir also voiced his country’s keenness to develop bilateral cooperation with Egypt and noted that bilateral coordination contributes to achieving mutual interests.

According to Radi, the two men agreed to form a ministerial committee to address mutual affairs and overcome any possible obstacles.
