UAE imposes travel ban on Kerala leading politician’s son

Binoy arrived in Dubai last week to settle the case after he received a clearance certificate from UAE’s criminal investigation department.

:: The United Arab Emirates has imposed a travel ban on the son of Kerala CPI-M’s state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan after complaints of fraud were lodged against him by a Dubai-based firm.

Binoy Kodiyeri is being accused of cheque fraud by the Dubai-based JAAS Tourism travel company of up to $1.9 mln (AED 7 mln).

Dubai Police confirmed to Khaleej Times that a travel ban has been slapped by the public prosecution as per the civil case lodged against Binoy but added that it could be lifted if he pays it back.

Binoy arrived in Dubai last week to settle the case after he received a clearance certificate from UAE’s criminal investigation department on January 25, Khaleej Times reported.
