:: According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the death toll in Syria’s Ghouta now stands at 84.

The numbers come in days after the ongoing strikes in the eastern city. Among the deceased are several women and children.

The artillery shelling and raids centered on the cities of Arbeen, Duma, Marj and Hzarma. Civil Defense teams continue to assist the injured, rescue those trapped under the rubble, and document the increasing number of casualties.

Earlier, the United Nations called for a month-long truce to evacuate and treat cases requiring critical medical attention. It also sought to give room for the introduction of humanitarian aid.

Ghouta has been under siege for several years by the Syrian regime forces.
