Pakistan foreign secretary discusses Kashmir with OIC secretary-general

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua meeting with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen in Jeddah.


:: Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua briefed Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen on the current situation in Kashmir during a meeting at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah.

Janjua said that “human rights violations were being carried out by Indian forces.”

The foreign secretary thanked the OIC secretary-general for the organization’s continued support for Kashmiris, condemned the acts of aggression against them, and expressed hope of a resolution in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

According to a Pakistan Consulate press release, Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s stance on the Kashmir dispute and said that a peaceful resolution according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions would bring durable stability to the region.

Janjua said that Pakistan appreciated the role played by the OIC secretary-general in making the organization an active platform and said that under his leadership it had raised the issues faced by the Muslim community.

Khan Hasham bin Saddique, Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, was also present at the meeting.
