Saudi King Salman receives al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb

King Salman welcomed al-Tayeb to the kingdom and praised the role of al-Azhar in spreading the true path of Islam.


:: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz received on Monday the Grand Imam of al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb in the al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques welcomed al-Tayeb to the kingdom and praised the role of al-Azhar in spreading the true path of Islam and serving the issues of the Muslim community.

In turn, the Grand Imam expressed his thanks and appreciation to King Salman for his hospitality, noting the kingdom’s great service to Islam and Muslims.

The meeting was attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s minister of interior, and the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani as well as other officials.
